Where to Park in Deadwood

Like most small downtown areas, there is a lack of parking in downtown Deadwood.  Deadwood built a parking deck that is located in the center of the downtown area.  On weekends the parking deck can get full though.  It also costs $5 a day to park there.  There are other alternatives to having to pay for parking in the downtown parking deck.

Validating Your Parking Deck Ticket

Several casinos partner up with the city to provide free parking.  Casino players that advance to the second tier of the player’s club at Mineral Palace, Silverado and Gold Dust can receive free parking.  It is quite easy to achieve the second tier at those casinos.  Mustang Sally’s, a small restaurant and slot casino in front of the parking deck, will also give you free parking if you spend an hour playing and/or eat a meal. All of the hotels that do not have their own parking will validate your parking deck ticket if you are a hotel guest.

Take a Short Walk

If you do not feel like parking in the parking deck, or it is full, there are still a few other options.  You can park at Cadillac Jack’s or First Gold on the north end of the city and take the short walk south to downtown.  You can also park at The Lodge at Deadwood above the city and take their shuttle to the north end of Main Street.  During peak times, the Comfort Inn/Gulches of Fun offers a shuttle between their hotel and their sister property Bodega.  Deadwood Mountain Grand is located on the south end of downtown Deadwood and offers free parking during off peak hours.

Deadwood Trolley

The Deadwood Trolley runs between 8am and midnight most days, and as late as 3am on weekends.  The cost per ride is $1.  If you are staying at one of the hotels that is south of downtown, the Deadwood Trolley may be your best bet.  You can also park at one of the off strip casinos and take the shuttle from there.  The shuttle runs about every 20 minutes during peak hours and picks up at all hotels in the city except for The Lodge.

Parking Meters

There are also metered parking spaces throughout the city.  These parking spaces are $.50 an hour.  Parking is free after 8pm every day.  The city typically does not enforce the meters during December so if you are there during that time check with the casinos before paying the parking meters.  Metered spaces are limited though and fill up fast.  The largest metered parking lot can be found on the north end of downtown.
